Early Career Ecologist

Wildscape Engineering is currently looking for an early-career Ecologist or Biologist with the following qualifications to join our growing team based out of the Northern Nevada area. The position will be part-time, hourly from May through October 2024 with the potential for extension.

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or similar science degree
  • Graduate degree or graduate degree in progress preferred
  • Two or more years experience collecting, compiling, and summarizing field data
  • Botanical knowledge of the Great Basin and Sierra Nevadas (San Francisco Bay area a plus)
  • Experience researching topics in scientific literature
  • Experience working in GIS (QGIS a plus) and using tablets for data collection (Avenza a plus)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Physically located within 50 miles of Reno, NevadaBeneficial
  • Beneficial Experience
  • Conducting fish, wildlife, and botanical surveys
  • Planning and implementing invasive plant control treatments
  • Herbicide applicator’s license (Nevada, California, or EPA)
  • Working in isolated locations with minimal services
  • Applying knowledge of geology, geomorphology, pedology, and hydrology
  • Off-road driving
  • Conducting or training to conduct wetland delineations
  • Permitting/planning preparationResponsibilities
  • Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our team to support ecological restoration and conservation projectsthroughout Nevada and the Sierra Nevadas
  • Conduct field work and collect ecological data
  • Support wetland delineation surveys and reporting
  • Support revegetation planning and implementation
  • Draft, edit, and format multidisciplinary reports
  • Prepare permit applications and assist with tracking
  • Manage tasks and projects with minimal input from senior staffCompany

Mid-Senior Level Geomorphologist

We’re currently looking for a talented Mid – Senior Level Geomorphologist with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geomorphology, Earth Science, Geology, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other related field
  • 4 to 10 years professional geomorphology experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience providing supervisory support for Entry-Level staff
  • Licensed California driver with own vehicle
  • Beneficial Experience
  • Stream restoration, sediment transport, water resource planning, watershed assessment, ecosystem restoration, river and/or wetland planning, design, or implementation, trail design, biotechnical bank stabilization, fish passage, dam removal and natural resource management.
  • Hydraulic modeling (HEC RAS 1-D and 2-D, River 2D, or other)
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, CAD, and/or Civil 3D
  • Experience with channel and topographic surveying using RTK and/or Total Station
  • Beneficial Education/Certification
  • Masters or PhD in related discipline
  • Professional Hydrologist/Professional Engineer
