Mid- to Senior- Level Civil Engineer, Landscape Architect or Geomorphologist with Experience in Ecological Restoration and/or Stormwater Drainage Design

Wildscape Engineering is looking for an experienced mid- to senior-level Civil Engineer with experience in Ecological Restoration and/or Storm Water Drainage design and implementation experience. We will also consider candidates who are mid- to senior- level geomorphologists with at least 6 years’ experience planning and designing river and wetland restoration projects. Wildscape Engineering is a boutique ecological engineering firm with a main office in South Lake Tahoe California and satellite offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Reno, Nevada. Wildscape Engineering specializes in river and wetland restoration, water quality improvements, fish passage, recreation trail design, drainage and BMP design, stormwater compliance for construction and minor industrial sites, climate change resiliency solutions, post-flood and post-fire repair, and construction oversight and monitoring. Our team of professionals provide the skills necessary to plan, design, and implement ecological restoration and stormwater treatment projects. Wildscape Engineering has been serving federal and state agencies, counties, cities, nonprofits, Native American Tribes, private companies, and individual landowners since 2008. Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, landscape architecture or geomorphology
  • California or Nevada Professional License required (if applying as an engineer or landscape architect)
  • Six (6) or more years of professional engineering, landscape architecture or geomorphology experience in channel/wetland restoration or stormwater design
  • Skilled at CAD/Civil 3D or hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC RAS 1-D, 2-D, HEC HMS, other)
  • Experience in design & construction plan set development
  • Experience developing restoration or storm water drainage plans
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing projects or leading interdisciplinary teams
  • Desire to mentor junior engineers
  • Experience with proposal writing, bidding on, and interviewing for projects
  • Licensed driver with own vehicle
  • Desire to work remotely at a satellite office in California or Nevada or ability to work out of the South Lake Tahoe, California office

Beneficial Experience

  • GIS capabilities
  • Field assessments of restoration or drainage/treatment opportunities
  • Grading plans, site plan development and/or water and wastewater utility designs
  • Focus on process-based restoration design
  • Storm water green infrastructure and designing treatment BMPs

  • CRAM certified
  • Master’s degree in related discipline

  • Restoration experience specific to the SF Bay Area, Sierra Nevada’s, and/or Nevada

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our team to design a wide variety of ecological restoration and/or storm water drainage projects
  • Mentor and manage junior staff in engineering practices, field assessments, design analysis and development, construction oversight, hydrology and hydraulics and/or environmental planning
  • Pursue projects through proposal development or networking
    Lead interdisciplinary teams and projects
  • Lead site assessments and collect hydro and/or geomorphic data
  • Develop high quality engineering drawings, design reports, specifications, and cost estimates
